How long does it take to paint each face?
Most face paint designs take 3-6 minutes each, depending on the simplicity or complexity of the designs. Artists can each cover 10-12 designs per hour, depending on the complexity. For events where tons of kiddos are present, we recommend artists to bring only 6-8 extra-simple design options to choose from to get as many little ones through as possible during their given time frame. Communicate with your face painter at your event to let them know what the expectation is for how quickly they should move – or alternately, if they can take extra time on each design to make them extra-cool!
How safe is our face paint? What brands or types do our artists use?
We use only the best-quality professional face paint brands – most commonly that means Paradise/Mehron, Wolfe, GlitterFX, Ben Nye, and Snazaroo brand cakes. All are hypoallergenic and completely safe for the skin! In 20 years we have never had a problem with skin reactions. If parents are worried about reactions for their children with very sensitive skin, then we recommend doing a hand or arm-paint instead of the face. Face paint designs wash off easily with a little soap and warm water.
What are the most popular face paint designs for kids?
Butterflies, superheroes, princess crowns, tigers, dinosaurs, and unicorns are the most requested designs at children's events. Animal faces like cats, dogs, and foxes, as well as fantasy themes like mermaids and rainbows, are also very popular.
Can face paint be applied over makeup?
Face paint holds best on clean, bare skin. Makeup, oils, dirt, or lotion can prevent the paint from sticking properly, causing it to fade or wear off faster. A quick wipe with a gentle, clean wipe before painting helps the colors stay bright and the design last longer. If a child already has makeup on, the face paint may not set well and can smudge or look uneven. For the best results, remove any makeup before applying face paint.
How do you remove face paint at the end of the day?
You can remove face paint easily with warm water and mild soap. Gently massage the area until the paint lifts off, then rinse and pat dry. For quick cleanups, baby wipes or gentle makeup-removing wipes work well and are safe for most skin types. Avoid scrubbing too hard, as the skin may be sensitive after wearing paint for a long time.
What about painting hands or arms or bodies? Can adults get in on the fun too?
We paint designs on hands and arms and legs all the time. Any of our designs can be painted anywhere on the body - even on pregnant bellies or bald heads! In fact, painting on an arm or leg, where there is more space to work on, allows for bigger, bolder design-work. Balloon animals are not meant to last forever. If kids are playing hard with them, they often start popping or unraveling within the hour! Balloons are allergic to anything abrasive – like trees, rocks, grass, gravel, etc. So how long they last purely depends on how the kids are treating them. We usually tell the kiddos: Don’t worry, they don’t last forever, so have fun with them while they last, and when they pop, well that is okay! 🙂

Can balloon twisters customize colors?
Yes. Our balloon twisters carry a wide assortment of balloon colors and can tailor their creations to match your event’s theme, holiday palette, or specific brand colors. If you have a particular look in mind, just let us know in advance and we’ll make sure the artist brings the right color selection.
Do balloons have latex?
All professional twisting balloons are made with latex, so anyone with a significant latex allergy should avoid direct contact with them. Unfortunately, latex-free balloons suitable for balloon twisting do not exist. If guests have known latex sensitivities, it’s best to skip balloon twisting for their safety and choose another entertainment option instead.
Are balloon animals safe for toddlers?
Balloon twisting is generally safe when properly supervised. However, children under three should not handle balloons, as popped or uninflated pieces can pose a choking hazard. We recommend that only adults or older children interact with the balloons directly, while younger children enjoy the creations from a safe distance.

How do people get their caricatures home safely?
All artists bring clear protective plastic sleeves to place each finished drawing in. This allows folks to show off their drawings afterward around the party or event – and keeps them clean until they make it home safely. Caricatures are often put in a mat or frame and displayed on a wall for years of decoration and smiles, so your party or event is remembered for years to come!
How many caricatures can an artist do each hour?
Our caricature artists can draw 10-12 faces per hour. If each person they are drawing requests to have their own individual caricature, they take slightly longer (around 10 faces per hour). If the people they are drawing are requesting to be drawn as couples, or in small groups, this process can go a little faster (up to 15 faces per hour). Our artists are always happy to draw individual caricatures, couples, or groups – whatever folks request! Also the time it takes for the next person or people to sit down can end up affecting how many faces our artists can fit into each hour.
Do caricature artists need a special setup at events?
Caricature artists keep their setup simple. All they need from you is two chairs and a small table. They handle everything else — including their art supplies, drawing materials, paper, and protective sleeves so guests can take their caricatures home safely. This makes it easy to place the artist anywhere within your event space.

How long do caricatures last?
Caricatures are drawn on durable, heavyweight paper, making them lasting keepsakes that can be enjoyed for years. When stored in the protective sleeves provided by the artist or placed in a frame at home, they are protected from damage and can remain in excellent condition for a lifetime. These illustrations capture memories and moments in a way that can be cherished for generations.
What drawing materials are used for caricatures? What size paper do they draw on? Black and white or color?
The majority of our artists use thick black markers on heavier paper. Paper sizes vary by artist, the most common being 9×12″ paper, 11×14″ paper, and 11×17″ paper. All artists come prepared for black-and-white caricature drawings unless otherwise requested. Color is cooler of course, but it takes twice as long! So black and white is standard, and they look fabulous either way. If color caricatures are requested (they must be requested upon booking), then artists can only cover half as many faces per hour as listed above.
How cartoony are caricatures? Also what are some other common uses for caricature drawings?
Different artists on our professional team have different styles – no two artist’s work is alike! Some styles are more cartoony while other styles are more realistic. But rest assured that no matter which artist or artists serve at your event — they are the best of the best, and they always get rave reviews! How is henna applied?
Henna is applied by squeezing the paste out of small cones directly onto the skin. Much like a cake decorator squeezes frosting onto a cake, henna artists squeeze the paste onto the skin in fine lines. Our henna artists bring design option sheets for each person to choose from. Both very simple or more complex designs can be chosen, and applied to any part of the body other than the face – usually hands, arms, legs or feet. The henna paste cakes up and dries and must stay on the skin for about an hour, at which point you rub off the paste and wash, and see that the skin has been stained beneath it. At first, the dye is light, but becomes darker after several hours or overnight. The design gets darker and more vivid, and often stays on the skin for 2-4 weeks!
